About

A quick company history

The Landmark Practice is an independent practice, set up by our current managing director Nick Roberts in 1985. He created the company to undertake landscape design based on sound ecological principles, initially as a commercial trading arm of Avon Wildlife Trust.

The concept was ahead of its time, when words like ‘environment’, ‘sustainability’ and ‘impact assessment’ were virtually unheard of in the business world. Nevertheless, Landmark quickly flourished and has remained at the forefront of its field for over 20 years.

Today, Landmark is a respected multi-disciplinary consultancy, working on a large array of development projects for clients throughout the UK and abroad.

Our team

The Landmark team consists of highly motivated landscape architects, environmental planners, ecologists and graphic designers working collaboratively to deliver client aspirations. Please click here to find out more about our people.

What we do

We apply these skills to all aspects of environmental planning, design and management, from baseline ecological and landscape survey and evaluation, through management of environmental impact assessment and negotiation with receiving authorities, to project design, contract supervision and long-term monitoring of developed sites. How we work

All our services are underpinned by rigorous scientific evaluation, sustainable principles and high quality design. The drawings, reports, illustrated studies and presentations that we produce for our clients is complemented by visualisation and photo-montage techniques from our talented in-house designers.

We thrive on devising realistic, cost-effective and innovative measures, underpinned by sustainable principles and high quality design, to mitigate adverse impacts of development. We guarantee quality by ensuring that all projects are managed by an expert Principal Consultant, supported by a highly qualified team.

“The Landmark Practice is the retained environmental consultancy for the Bristol Port Company. We benefit from their exemplary service and lead on environmental issues. For me, what sets them apart is their recognition of our commercial needs as well as our environmental concerns.”

Our commitment to sustainability

Although no longer directly linked to the Wildlife Trust, Landmark retains its roots firmly in biodiversity conservation. We actively support charities and enterprise in the environmental sector and promote education by working with universities and CPD trainers to provide specialist skills in environmental planning and ecology.

Accreditations and Awards

In 2007 the practice was awarded the first RTPI Environmental Planning and Protection Award.
